I’ll be in Sault Ste. Marie on Thursday June 4th participating in an event at the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library.
Its called Seniors: Superheroes of our Community and aimed at supporting seniors in the community. I’m just a small part of the activities that day. I offered to share my story Cross Border Clash, both because its set in the Sault and because my superhero Darcy is a guy close to retiring from both the steel plant and hanging up his cape (or in Darcy’s case his hockey jersey) before he’s faced with a dilemma. There are two other superhero stories in SuperCanucks with older protagonists that are past their prime. The stories look at what the characters have to offer their communities as seniors.
I am excited to speak at the Library because its a place very near and dear to my heart. I spent so much of my youth growing up in the Sault at the library. It was within walking distance of where I lived (if you think of 2 kms as a small walk) and my mother would often take us a kids to check out the Children’s section and check out books. Later I would bike there with my friends to work on school projects and browse the reference section. (Remember we had to look stuff up at the library before the internet!)
I’ll have books for sale and some 3D printed SuperCanucks related swag to giveaway. I’ll post some pictures when I return from the Sault later in the week.
