Published in Fictionvale in May 2014 as part of Episode 3: A Different Outcome, my story Second Harvest was the first story I sold. Fictionvale was a new online market that has since folded, but it published a lot of good fiction in the short time it was around. About the Story
Charlotte McFarland has witnessed the horrors of First World War while serving as a nurse with the Canadian Army in Europe. She returns home unexpectedly to her family farm in Northern Ontario only to discover that her past and the horrors of war have followed her. A tale that is part historical fiction, part horror story, and part alternate history — Second Harvest examines the toll of war and the impact it has on the dead and the living.
